Keta, Volta Region — September 22, 2025 — The Viva Health Medical Foundation, in partnership with the Keta Municipal Hospital and Tegbi Health Centre, has successfully concluded a four-day free surgical and medical outreach. The program, which ran from September 18 to 21, provided critical healthcare services to more than a thousand residents in the Keta Municipality and surrounding areas.
Over the four days, the team performed 89 surgical procedures, including emergency cesarean sections, fibroid removals, hernia repairs, thyroid excisions, and lipoma surgeries. The outreach also offered general medical consultations, blood pressure checks, eye and dental screenings, and laboratory services. A community screening at Tegbi saw more than 1,000 patients, with many also receiving free registration and renewals for their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards.

“Every surgery we performed gave someone back their health and their hope,” said Lt Col (Dr) Carl Nutsugah, CEO and Co-founder of Viva Health Medical Foundation. “This initiative is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together to serve communities that would otherwise lack access to specialized care.”
Major Randy Nii Ofori Tawiah, Co-founder and Director of Operations, expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event possible. He also acknowledged the staff of the Keta Municipal Hospital for their collaboration, which ensured smooth operations across three surgical theaters.
“This outreach has reinforced our commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to those in need,” Major Tawiah noted. “We will continue to touch lives and widen smiles across Ghana.”

The success of the program was made possible by the support and donations from a number of organizations, individuals, and a generous community of family and friends on social media, including:
